Community Guidelines
The “Report” options beneath a video match these items exactly; moderators also decide by the same text. The rules apply together to videos, comments and channel profiles (name, description, images).
Opinions are protected. Illegal content is not.
A controversial, offensive or unpopular opinion — and criticism of any government, institution or public figure — stays up, even when it makes people uncomfortable. That line is the point of this place. What does not stay is content that is unlawful in itself or endangers real people: child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, and the like. That content is removed immediately, prioritized above every other report, and reported to the proper authorities where the law requires it.
To flag it, use Report → “Illegal or dangerous” on the content — those reports jump to the front of the moderation queue. For an active emergency involving someone's safety, contact your local authorities first.
1.Illegal or dangerous content
Content that is unlawful in itself or puts real people in real danger is removed immediately and takes priority over every other report.
Applies to
- Any sexual content involving minors (child sexual abuse material) — removed on sight, reported to the proper authorities, never tolerated
- Credible, specific threats of violence against real people
- Content that organizes or facilitates serious crime (terrorism, trafficking)
- Publishing someone's private information in order to endanger them
Doesn't apply to
- A controversial, offensive or unpopular opinion that breaks no law
- Criticism of governments, institutions, ideas, companies or public figures
2.Spam and misleading content
Repetitive, irrelevant or deliberately misleading content may not be published.
Applies to
- A title or thumbnail unrelated to the video (clickbait)
- Re-uploading the same video over and over with minor changes
- Bulk, irrelevant links or promotion in comments
- Content or links that lead viewers into a scam
Doesn't apply to
- Bold but content-consistent titles
- References to your own other videos or channel
3.Hate speech and harassment
Content that attacks, demeans or targets a group or person based on their identity is prohibited.
Applies to
- Demeaning people based on identity traits like ethnicity, religion, gender or disability
- Targeting a person, doxxing (sharing private info like address or phone)
- Persistent, one-sided harassment (in comments or in video content)
Doesn't apply to
- Harsh criticism, satire and debate of ideas — as long as it targets the idea, not the person
- Uncomfortable but non-attacking opinions on matters of public interest
4.Violence
Content that glorifies, incites or displays violence for shock value may not be published.
Applies to
- Presenting real footage of violence with praise or as entertainment
- Calls for violence against specific people or groups
- Content that encourages self-harm
Doesn't apply to
- Footage with clear context in a news, documentary or educational setting
- Scenes that are clearly fiction (film, game content)
5.Copyright
You may only upload content you own or have the right to use.
Applies to
- Re-uploading someone else's video without permission
- Publishing music, film or broadcast clips you don’t hold rights to, as is
Doesn't apply to
- Reasonable use for criticism, review or education (with attribution)
- Content used with permission or a license

6.Other
Situations not covered above that still harm the platform or its users; each is evaluated case by case.
Applies to
- A fake account in the name of another person or organization (impersonation)
- Attempts to abuse platform vulnerabilities
- Promotion of illegal goods or services
How moderation works
- When a video or channel is reported it enters the moderation queue. Everyone can report the same content once.
- The moderator makes one of three decisions: remove, warn or dismiss. A written reason is required; no decision can be made without one.
- The decision, with its reason, appears on the content owner's decisions page. No video disappears silently.
- A removed video is not deleted, only hidden — the owner still sees it in Libera Space.
Enforcement
Enforcement is graduated and targets the content, not the person:
- Warning — the content stays up; the decision and its reason are sent to the owner.
- Removal — the video is hidden (not deleted). Applied only for a rule violation.
- Channel warning — if a violation can't be tied to a single video, a warning is issued at the channel level. Repeated and deliberate violations are evaluated at the account level.
When reporting
- Pick the reason closest to the violation; a short note makes the moderator's job easier.
- For a single video use the report option on the video's page; for a channel overall use the one on the channel page.
- A report is not a vote but an invitation to review: what matters is its merit, not its count. Baseless reports lower the priority of your future reports.
- Don't report content you dislike that breaks no rule.
Appeals
If you think a decision about you is wrong, you can appeal from your decisions page by writing your reasons. The appeal goes to the moderators; if accepted the decision is reversed (a removed video goes back live), and either way the response is sent to you with its reason. Because a decision never permanently deletes any content, you lose nothing during an appeal.
